Yes there was and is a problem installing the Hefty adaptor on a tow hitch. It does not fit. However, Grinding the adaptor down to fit seems to work but noted I really don’t need the adaptor after all. Just install the lights. For which are very bright and useful & I’m happy with just the lights being there.

You’ll notice the bracket has two inner diameters; a larger and smaller one. My OEM trailer hitch on my Colorado actually has a very similar design, in that there’s a larger diameter lip on the very end of the tube (sort of like a welded bead). So, the larger inner diameter section of this bracket fits perfect over that lip (just have to face it the correct way). However, the smaller inner diameter does not fit over the diameter of the square tube of my hitch. Therefore, I had to grind it out just a little so it would slide down over that square tube. Now it fits nice and snug and I don’t have to worry about it sliding off the back because that lip prevents that from happening. The lights are plenty bright. I tapped into the center wire (gray) of the 7 pin trailer outlet for reverse only lights, using a T tap type wire connector. I then ran the black to a bolt on the frame to ground it. Works great.Oh, and you can see the reason I needed these lights by the dent in my bumper. Can’t see crap out of the back of a Colorado at night when it’s pouring rain. This should solve that problem.

I use a 16′ trailer a lot and half the time, it’s in the dark. Ordered these and they are great ! The only problem I found was the safety chain for the trailer has to be positioned as not to tear your lights off….

Looks like nice lights but since it is missing a key screw it leaves me a little disappointeed in the overall quality of the packaging. Little details like this can derail your project so easily. Fortunately I have some suitable substitutes in my shop and will be able to fabricate a replecement.Distracting at least.

The idea behind this product is good, but not very practical. The bracket that mounts to the hitch receiver fits fine, but it is directly in the way of the trailer’s safety chains. If the slack were taken out of the chains, the entire assembly would be wiped out, at least, on my particular application. I opted for mounting the lights directly under the bumper and discarding the receiver bracket. Something you must pay for that is pretty much useless, or at least for me, it was. Make sure you carefully think out where your chains hook to before ordering this assembly.

My trailer hitch has horizontal plates with chain hookup holes on the sides and this thing is just a hair too thick to fit between those and the “lip” on the end of the hitch. I used a rubber mallet to smack in the bottom piece as far as I could and fastened the top piece. Because of the plates, or probably more because of the weld between the plates and the hitch, it’s just short of a perfect fit and the light bracket is actually angled UP maybe a degree or two, so I had to adjust the lights themselves ALL the way down just to get them parallel to the ground. Can’t get them pointed any lower. The wires on the lights are right where the plates are as well so I angled them to the sides about 30 degrees … but I happen to think there’s a side to side adjustment on the lights’ brackets themselves so I’m going to see if I can do that and get the lights more straight back.

The product is exactly as described. Looks sturdy, nice and bright. I’ve only had it installed for a few days now and used it probably less than 2 minutes altogether. My only dissatisfaction is that the harness that is sold with the product is too short. I had to purchase wire from autozone to make a harness extension.
