I bought these to work at a job site. We need signal lights on our vehicles while driving around the mine. They aren’t that bright during the day. Work well at night though.

I’ve always carried a set of road flares in the car- to have for emergencies. And I’ve used them, on more than one occasion. But I’ve always worried about their potential for unintended consequences… like causing a fire. I got a flat tire in the forest, once- no using a traditional road flare there! That’s why I ordered this set of Rechargeable LED Emergency Flares from MARKSTOR. This kit included six “flares” (lights, really), 2 charging cables, but NO power supply- that’s NOT included, instructions, and a storage bag. The storage bag’s a nice touch, but a little too form-fitting. It’s a little tight, trying to get the “pucks” at the bottom, out of that bag. The charging cables provide for charging up to three “flares” from a single USB plug. But you’ll need to supply your own USB charger/power supply- and it should be at least a 2-amp supply, or charging will take a long time. The “pucks” feature charge-status indicators: They’re red when they’re charging, and turn green when charging is complete. Each “puck” has a magnet- to allow you to “stick” it to your car, and a foldable hook- so it can be hung. In addition to the red signal LEDs, each “puck” has three “white” LEDs (on the broad side) meant to function as a flashlight- and they’re fairly bright. You can select from nine different flashing patterns for the “flares”- nice, but maybe excessive- after all, they’re meant to use in traffic- not a nightclub. MARKSTOR says the “pucks” are sturdy enough to survive being run-over by a car- and they do seem pretty solid. The bright orange portions are rubberized, to help keep the lights from sliding, on smooth surfaces. The bright orange color is useful, because the LEDs are hardly visible in daylight- one instance where traditional road flares still have a distinct advantage. At night, the LED flares are fairly-bright, and visible from a fair distance… but again, not as bright as a traditional flare. On the other hand, these won’t burn you- or start a fire. Regarding their brightness: At a roadside emergency, any light is better than no light, at all. And, on the whole, these are safer to use- and to store- than a traditional flare. But I was surprised by one other item that came in the package: A certification tag- with an expiration date! According to that tag, these LED flares are good for three years. I didn’t see that one, coming. Presumably, this refers to the batteries- which will gradually lose their ability to store a charge… and aren’t replaceable in their permanently-sealed, water-resistant, crush-proof cases.

I like to make some of my Christmas presents something that the receiver can use to stay safe along with the other types of gifts. These USB chargeable roadside flares/flashers are perfect for that type of gift. They’re bright, lightweight, charge easily and hold a charge. They will help keep your loved ones safe.

As stated in other reviews, the USB charge port breaks easily. It’s soldered on to a circuit board and if any pressure is applied while plugging in the charge cord, it breaks off. 1 of 6 has broken so far. Doesn’t take much pressure.
